4 Skincare ingredients that should be in your skincare products

Hyaluronic acid:

Hyaluronic acid is used as a humectant — a substance that helps the skin hold on to water,” it helps hydrate the outer layers of skin, thereby improving the skin's appearance.” Skin that's hydrated is touted as being more radiant and youthful-looking. HA is the main component of what gives your skin structure, and is responsible for that plump and hydrated look. You may have heard the chatter around collagen, but hyaluronic acid is where it’s at.

Niacinamide:

Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide, niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly minimize enlarged pores, tighten lax pores, improve uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface

Retinol:

Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is an ingredient added to skin creams, lotions and serums. It has anti-aging effects and can help clear acne. Products containing retinol are widely available over-the-counter, and stronger concentrations of retinoids are available by prescription.

Magnesium:

Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, another vitamin C derivative used in skin care, has been shown to have a hydrating effect on the skin, according to a 2022 review . It decreases transepidermal water loss (TEWL), allowing your skin to retain moisture better. The benefits of Magnesium applied topically for your skin are fast becoming more and more recognized and can include increased elasticity, improved skin tone, improved collagen synthesis (goodbye wrinkles) and regulation of sebum and oil production (goodbye acne)
